There are many great designers out there, and especially in the lore from the golden age, but I’m not to familiar with them. I thought it might be interesting to discuss some of the great designers for engineering skill and knowledge, business integrity, and ultimatley quality of their products. My short list a “hall of […]

Hi folks, quick love goes as quick as it came. This is maybe valid for the most spectacular speakers. First listening of my S6e gave me the impression: they will be sold. Meanwhile I honor it’s true involving midband. Bass is despite it’s dimensions full bodied and nearly perfect for my loft apartment. Bigger stands […]
My present system comprises a Sugden Masterclass CD player and a pair of Ruark Solstice floor standing speakers. The amp is excellent but, for reasons which need not weary us here, has to be replaced with a solid state version. I would rather not spend more than around £1k on the replacement and have considered […]

That’s more or less what local Naim dealer and service center told perspective buyer of my approx -9-10 years old cheapest Naim integrated amp. They said it would at very least need $300 re-cap and preferably $600-900 board replacement since the one which is in the amp is totally obsolete. Was it always like that […]
Roy Gregory writes: If Audio Origami ‘s nomenclature evokes a dull echo somewhere in the deep recesses of your memory banks, seeing it in the flesh might well seem like déjà vu. Quality Control, For A Quality Sound Pictured is an image from the late ’50s of the final hand-finished assembly process after mylar stretching and cabinet construction. Although manufacturing is achieved today on a much larger scale, the same approach to quality has never faltered. Many processes from circuit board assembly to piano gloss finishing use […]
My Naim CDS3 sits on TV stand ( i know – not ideal )- but i have AV mixed with my hifi setup. I am thinking of using sorbothane feet / Black ravioli under the cd player resting on MDF platform. Any thoughts?
You cannot upgrade an SD B2. If you had a 500G B2 say then no problem about opening it up and swapping a bigger drive. You need to do Settings->Maintenance->Format HDD after if it’s not FAT32.
I have owned and listened to nothing but (low to mid end) Naim amplification for the last 15 years. Whenever I have briefly listened to other amps in dealers I have pulled a face and thought no not for me. But, I recently split my second system and moved my Rega Brio R into my […]
