Given their enormous mid 1980s success, with hit record after hit record and an appearance at Live Aid in 1985, by the end of the decadethings had surprisingly gone quiet for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Petty himself had temporarily broken ties with his band by this juncture, and joined the Travelling Wilburys. In 1991, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers reunited to record a new album, the result was Into The Great Wide Open.
