Linda Ronstadt had a lengthy career from the sixties through to the early part of the noughties and her career was only halted due to illness. In that period she released thirty albums and fifteen compilation albums for a number of record labels She first came to prominence as the singer in the Stone Pony’s, scoring a huge hit with a cover of the Michael Nesmith song Different Drum. Following the split of the Stone Pony’s Linda began a solo career and released a number of critically well received albums for Capitol Records before signing to David Geffen’s then new record label Asylum in 1973.
From here through until 1987 Linda released a number of hugely successful albums mixing pop rock and country and even Spanish songs. In 1988 she switched to the main Warner’s label and continued to have success, including hit singles with the likes of Aaron Neville (I Don’t Know Much) and James Ingram (Somewhere Out There).Linda Ronstadt also released two albums with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris (Trio and Trio II) and one album with Emmylou Harris ( Western Wall: The Tucson Sessions). Over the years Linda Ronstadt has been awarded a Grammy Award ten times and been nominated a further seventeen times. In 2014 she published her autobiography and in April of 2014 she was also inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
