This 2-disc collection of every single one of Dr Feelgood's BBC recordings during the Wilko Johnson years is an essential purchase for new and old fans alike. The 42 tracks cover the classic line-up's seven visits to the BBC and capture the band at their very best throughout. Broadcasting legend Bob Harris championed the group early on with the Feelgood's recording two sessions for his Radio One show. They were soon reunited with Whispering Bob for an unforgettable appearance on BBC 2's flagship rock show The Old Grey Whistle Test.
This stunning set also includes a session for the late, great John Peel and no fewer than three In Concert programmes, all introduced by Alan Black. Eight tracks are appearing on CD for the very first time. Dr Feelgood almost single-handedly blew prog rock out of the water and in doing so paved the way for punk. The informative booklet recalls how the three surviving members - Wilko Johnson, John B. Sparks and The Big Figure - got their kicks performing for the best broadcasting organisation in the world. Sadly, singer Lee Brilleaux is not around to tell his tale but his massive contribution can certainly be heard on this must-have compilation.
