KOETSU: Can a retipped Rosewood really be worth £1000?

The thread starts: Picked up a used koetsu rosewood signature last week for £600. It was advertised as in excellent condition and had been given a clean bill of health from a dealer. The cart arrived and the bodywork and cantilever are in excellent condition but the diamond is very worn, and it sounds poor. I'm not really sure whether to return to seller, payout another £400 for a retip or try to sell it on. The cart is stunning and I've never really been able to afford one.
