Oh yes indeed. This is great great stuff. It's my first Mississippi John Hurt CD - and I love it.
A fine retailer incidentally. He's not that big on Blues. Very big on Classical and Jazz though. Anyway, always worth a trip. And no, he isn't paying me for the plug. Not sure they even know what a plug is. And their site must be one of the very last remaining pre-war Internet sites. This CD is of this gentle and venerable performer in concert. No backing band. No syths. No dancers. Lawdy lawdy, how I do hate them dancers. So - just pure unvarnished talent. What a find.
I think, but can't be 100% certain that his voice and style have been a big influence on another great band, Hot Tuna. I'll track that one if and when I have time.
