ELVIS: Did he really dislike the Beatles as claimed in Elvis Found Alive?

J. Spangler writes:

Yes he did.

Especially John Lennon.

As related by author Chris Hutchins (who for some unknown reason confused the California Bel-Air mansion with Graceland when relating this anecdote {The Beatles and Elvis never met at Graceland}), who took the Fab Four to meet the King at his mansion at 525 Perugia Way, relations went downhill in a hurry. Elvis was especially peeved at John’s pacifism and his anti-war stance on the Vietnam War.

According to Chris,”John had annoyed Presley by making his ant-war feelings known the moment he stepped into the massive lounge and spotted the table lamps—model wagons engraved with the message ‘All the way with LBJ.’ Lennon hated President Lyndon B. Johnson for raising the stakes in the Vietnam War.”

“So, you don’t like my table lamps John? Oh I see, it’s what’s engraved on them. Uh huh.”

John’s anti-war beliefs angered Presley so much that he got in touch with J. Edgar Hoover. Hoover was only too happy to make attempts to have John thrown out of the US.

“I have a report here that one of my agents was overheard to be humming I Want To Hold Your Hand. Fire that subversive bum now!”

Another thing that put the chill on the meeting was that John asked Presley what happened to the 1950s rocker and rebel that he admired as a teenager. Elvis laughed it off but from there on things were awkward to say the least. A splendid time was not guaranteed for all But in spite of the initial awkwardness Elvis and the boys had an impromptu jam session according to some sources.

“Yes Elvis, I will look into this John Lennon matter. You are a true patriot. BTW King, have you ever thought about having hidden microphones placed through out Graceland?”
