MERIDIAN / LINN: Collaborative active systems from Subjective Audio (Howard Popeck) North London, in April 1981.

"As the owner of six 105s and a pair of 'briks I'd be highly interested in the specifics...

I purchased one of these Meridian/Linn collaborative active systems from Subjective Audio (Howard Popeck) North London, in April 1981. The system consisted of 6 X Meridian 105S power amplifiers with their own dedicated built-in electronic crossovers tailored for the bass, mid and treble drivers on the Linn Isobarik PMS active speakers. I found the original receipt and the Meridian six-pack cost me £2400 in 1981. The serial numbers were B3928, B3932, B3937, B3938, B3942 and B3946 (black finish). The preamp was a Meridian 101B with moving coil phono stage and my source at that time was an Oracle Delphi turntable/Syrinx PU3 arm and Koetsu Black mc phono cartridge.

The Linn Isobarik PMS speakers (Teak finish) were serial numbers 11453 & 11454 and cost me £1660 in 1981.I kept that system until December 1988, changing the preamp to an Audio Research in the process, before selling it. Having previously owned Linn Isobarik DMS speakers powered by Meridian 105S stereo amps, I recall that the active system really rocked! Nostalgia trip ended!!
