They tell us.....
The Unique Thelonious Monk, recorded in 1956, is the pianist’s second LP of standards. Though the recording was his label’s attempt at reaching a larger audience, this is in no way watered down; Monk takes his unique interpretive approach to tracks from the likes of the Gershwins, and Rodgers & Hart. With the help of a crack rhythm section of Blakey and Pettiford, this is one of Monk’s early career highlights and a truly unique piece of 50s piano trio jazz, back in print on 180 gram LP with download card.
