We’re looking for fresh thinking Graduate Engineers to join our new audio design and engineering team. These are challenging permanent positions with excellent opportunities for long-term career development but we will also consider undergraduates looking for work-placement as part of a degree programme. Spendor is a rapidly expanding business, our Hi-Fi loudspeakers are internationally recognised for their superb sound, fine technical performance and attractive design.
You’ll be based at our new facility at the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Sheffield where we have our own cabinet production facility and CNC machine workshop. Our neighbours at the AMP include Rolls Royce, Boeing, Sheffield University and McLaren. You’ll report directly to CEO (Philip Swift BSc, ARCS, MAES) who has a long and distinguished track-record bringing innovative beautifully engineered hi-performance hi-end Hi-Fi products to the international market – Lentek, Audiolab, Spendor and soon BASE vibration control platforms. We’re also partners in project Oobeedoo – a loudspeaker device which will utilise the power of music and the internet to bring peace-of-mind to Alzheimer’s sufferers.
Applicants should have (or expect to obtain) a good degree in acoustics, electronics or mechanical engineering. A keen interest in sound, loudspeakers, transducers, audio electronics, vibration, materials technology, robotics, room acoustics and music is essential. You must have the ability to apply empirical scientific-engineering principles to deliver elegant effective engineering solutions to challenging (but realistic) deadlines. An appreciation of the importance of design for manufacture is important. Ideally you’ll have some hands-on experience making/prototyping/modelling/drawing/measuring/testing – including some experience of CAD, 3D printing and computer simulation and modelling.
A typical starting salary for a new graduate would be in the region of £25,000 p.a.
