One the best cartridges ever made……Sony?

"I have to confess to never having had the pleasure of listening to The Sony XL 88 D (The D stands for diamond cantilever) which was reportedly the most expensive cartridge available in the 80's. A recent blog update by 'Audio 16' (A recommended blog for Western Electric fans and other audiophile exotica with some rather mouth watering images) has somewhat wet my appetite...

Anyone here had the pleasure of listening to / owning one of these beauties? The styling of the cartridge is very much of it's time, however it would seem Sony made a few interesting developments with the coil winding..."
