Will someone please show illustrate to me why there is no point going beyond 16/44. Personally I cannot discern any difference, I would however appreciate knowing why, in detail.

Answering, “…why there is no point going beyond 16/44” is something I can’t do. Depending on your DAC, your ears, and your musical taste, you might hear better sound for a particular piece at 24/96, or not. If not, there is no difference for you. Most DACs handle low-level harmonics a little better at 24/96, but the differences are, by their nature, subtle.
