DANIELLE NICOLE: Wolf Den (CD)

  • Winner of three Blues & Soul ‘Bluesville Awards 2015’
  • “Blues Album of the Year”, Vocalist of the Year” +
  • “Female Artist of the Year”

Danielle Nicole's first solo album, 'Wolf Den', is a natural progression as she ascends from her award winning sibling blues band, Trampled Under Foot. Recorded in New Orleans and produced by GRAMMY® Award-winning vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Anders Osborne, the record also features drummer Stanton Moore of Galactic and Luther Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars.

You can hear and feel that Big Easy influence snaking through each of these twelve tracks, from the tasty jazz-blues licks of "It Ain't You" to the chunky Voodoo-Chile crunch of the rocker "Didn't Do You No Good." The funk gets particularly delectable in "How You Gonna Do Me Like That," "You Only Need Me When You're Down" and "In My Dreams," which showcase Nicole's versatility and range with nods to gospel and girl-group pop as well. "Take It All" shows further appreciation of that genre; it's one more example of Nicole's willingness to both pay homage to and build on what came before.
