“Rock stars” of classical music such as Mozart and Verdi would be “outraged” to know their works are considered the “exclusive preserve of an educated elite”, Clemency Burton-Hill has said, as she argues the genre should be for everyone. Burton-Hill, the new presenter of Radio 3’s breakfast show, said it “breaks her heart a little” to hear people claiming they do not understand classical music.
