I don't usually do this kind of thing (join forums etc) but had to share this...
In a past life (single man) I was a Naim nut but have just wasted several years of life perservering with a pair of Linn amps (Kolektor/LK85) to try and get them to sound 'right' for me. Have tried different sources, cables etc but just hasn't been doing it for me. Really depressing stuff. But kept trying because I thought it was me that was at fault!? wanting to be a bit more modern!
Now, I have had a mint Naim 62/140 Chrome bumper combo sitting in my wardrobe for the last 2 years which has been waiting patiently to be installed until we moved house. We have just moved house, so unable to suffer any longer I whipped out the Linns, and put in the Naims, switched on (forgot about the Naim thump!!) and got prepared to be miserable still. Do you know I nearly cried!! (really) The music that came out of those little boxes, freezing cold and unused for years, was an absolute joy!! All I could do was smile 
and actually felt like a weight had been lifted off me. Unbelievable.
FYI the rest of the system is like me, old. (I'm 51) Linn Saras (white belly) and a Micromega Stage 1 CD player.
I'm home again - aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
PS. been on for a few days now and getting better - might start looking for a Hicap now... even the wife noticed it sounds better so life is great again!!
