In my mind, I am mostly right about stuff—wrong only on occasion. But then my wife, Terri, keeps better score—which she says now stands at about 50/50. Guess I was wrong about the score, too.
To that point, I have always referred to the wall behind the loudspeakers as the rear wall—and and it is from the speaker’s perspective—which apparently is incorrect in the context of speaking as a listener.
Most people, it seems, think of this as the front wall—because it is the wall you face. I am now doing my level best to rearrange the little gray cells so my lexicon changes in normal speech.
Audio terminology is rich with shorthand that can seem like a foreign language to the uninitiated. I have, from time to time, published lists of these words and defined their meaning and it is likely I will do so again in the future.
In the meantime, I address some of these terms at the behest of Tim in California in this video. I also show off my new toy, the aerial drone used to shoot the opening and closing shots, which bring me to my last subject.
I am not happy with that video intro. One poster suggested it is self-indulgent. I do not disagree and I’ll add to that. I believe it to be too long and of little value. Would you mind offering your suggestions on how it might be improved? Should I just ditch the intro fly-in shot altogether and just post a title – then straight into it? Let me know what you think. I could use some help.
