JOHNNY WINTER: My Father’s Place, Old Roslyn, NY, September 8th 1978 (3CD)

Taped for New York’s WLIR-FM just after the release of the classic White, Hot & Blue album, this epic performance captures the Texan blues great on fiery form, backed by new cohorts Jon Paris (bass, harmonica, vocals) and Bobby Torello (drums). Despite – or because of – being drunk, Winter turns in remarkably extended performances of numerous tracks, including what might just be the longest version of Bony Moronie ever recorded! It’s presented in excellent sound quality here, and comes complete with background notes and rare images.
