We love things to make sense and fit into neat little boxes so we can manage our view of the world. When they don’t we can take a number of different paths: ignore, anguish, change the story, disbelief, start researching. We understand that at the heart of 2-channel high-end audio is the goal of doing […]

Frankly, extraordinary for both the time and the price.

The truth is that the roots of heavy metal stretch back into the Mississippi Delta and Chicago; blues music then found its way into rock ‘n roll, particularly through the […]
Paul McGowan: I was thumbing through a stereo catalog recently and came across a full page presentation for Infinity loudspeakers on the left page and Klipsch loudspeakers on the right page. The designers of the catalog used photos showing their entire lineup from small to large loudspeaker in a line. I am sure you know […]
In my post about where the image should appear, behind the loudspeakers and not in front, we stirred a bit of controversy on the one hand and sparked a number of questions on the other. Several of you have asked how you can manage depth in your sound system and asked what controls the depth […]

We are told ….. Muddy Waters had a great ear for talent and accordingly the formation accompanying him on this DVD was one of the very best: The pianist Pinetop Perkins, drummer Willie Big Eyes Smith, bass player Calvin Jones, the two guitarists Luther Guitar Jr. Johnson and Bob Margolin and harmonica player Jerry Portnoy. Given the subject matter addressed in the title and other tracks on You Want It Darker and Leonard Cohen’s advanced age (82), it’s tempting to hear this as a last album. In advance of its release, he told The New Yorker he was ready to die, but later walked back that comment. He wrote some […]
