ELKIE BROOKS: We’ve Got Tonight

Recorded and Filmed Live at Shepherds Bush Empire, London, 7th May 2004.

Elkie's recording career began when, as a teenager, she was billed as Manchester's answer to Brenda Lee. She worked with several big-name jazz bands at that time, such as those led by Eric Delaney and Humphrey Lyttleton, and released a few singles, but it wasn't until she and her first husband, guitarist Pete Gage, established a unique jazz/rock direction with a large group called Dada, that she was widely noticed, although Dada disbanded after a single album.

"During the early 1970s, this unwieldy combo metamorphosed into a more accessible R&B group known as Vinegar Joe, which featured two vocalists in Elkie and Robert Palmer then in 1975 they both embarked on solo careers. This concert recording is a valuable collection of much great work by one of Britain's favourite singers of the modern era, whose perseverance and passion makes her an excellent role model for any aspiring young female vocalist". - Arthur Davis Previously released with the Catalogue Number SECDP107 in 2014.
