Old music: Gram Parsons – A Song for You

Peter Walker writes as follows:  "The song is absolutely hopeless, beyond despair. It's the saddest song I've ever heard." That was Rolling Stone magazine's description of A Song for You in March 1973, reviewing the album on which it featured, GP. They meant it as a compliment. Sadly, the studio version of A Song for You has been removed from YouTube, but this live clip from March 1973 – though not of great sound quality – shows how, for all Parsons' famous problems, he could deliver as heartbreaking a performance on stage as in the studio."
