Why fill your house with LPs, CDs, or DVDs when you can have all you might ever want to listen to or watch at the touch of a button? Indeed, if you believe the title of one classical compilation disc, all the classical tunes you’ll ever want can be comfortably contained on one CD. Who needs a massive collection?!
Although I don’t regret my profligacy as a collector (and even if I did, it’s a bit late now), I do sometimes feel sad that something I invested so much time money and effort in, is now so devalued.
