Raspberry Pi, changing my perception

I bought a Raspberry Pi and a Hifiberry DAC because i loved the idea of a fully fledged component the size of a cigarette packet. I expected a long and painful configuration would be the premium i paid over £50, but my iPhone recognises it with the generic Open Elec O/S.

I can now use it to play the full range of BBC radio using the Iplayer radio app. Thats more functionaliy than £3000 pounds worth of Naim and Sonos kit dotted around the house can do at the moment.

Makes me wonder if generic streamer hardware and a generic os is the way to go.
