Is it just me, or does the MP3, long after it has ceased to be necessary for audiophiles to tolerate it, seem to be stuck in the role of anti-digital bogeyman? Digital audio often seems to be conflated with MP3, and it is undeniable that MP3 does distort the sound. But audiophiles and their £multi-k budgets do not have to listen to MP3s.
