Why Don’t More People Love Audio?

Can anyone explain why high end audio seems to be forever stuck as a cottage industry? Why do my rich friends who absolutely have to have the BEST of everything and wouldn't be caught dead without expensive clothes, watch, car, home, furniture etc. settle for cheap mass produced components stuck away in a closet somewhere? I can hardly afford to go out to dinner, but I wouldn't dream of spending any less on audio or music.

  1. Yes, they’re missing out on quite a lot I think. But maybe they just apply the same logic to their audio systems that they apply to their video systems (and eveyrthing else in their lives). There is no ‘high end’ video market as such; just mainstream corporations with a range of products from the basic and clunky to the bigger and better finished. I suspect that someone who buys from towards the top of the range in televisions probably buys from towards the top of the range in sound bars and surround speakers too. In their minds they possess ‘the best’ so why would they need to worry any further?
