Can you separate the man from the music? Perhaps you simply have to, because Cooke was a flawed and unpleasant man who was also one of the greatest singers of the 20th century.

He sold more than 10 million records, among them memorable pop songs such as You Send Me, Another Saturday Night, Wonderful World, Chain Gang, Cupid, Twistin' the Night Away, all sung in his seductive, dulcet style.
