OLC-question-mark

The thread starts: I currently use a Musical Fidelity V Dac, with a cheapo Maplins power supply/plug that made a significant improvement. Santa has offered to buy me a tablet. For the same budget I'd rather get a new DAC as my smartphone and laptop do me fine. Would the Musical Fidelity V90 be significantly better than my original V Dac ?

When I have the time I do intend to audition the V 90 alongside my own V DAC at the London dealer I got if from a few years ago.

Yes I have looked at the online reviews of the V90 in Hi Fi Plus & Hi-Fi Critic. I'm a little be hesitant about it after reading a What Hi-fi review (only 4 stars !) which basically said it sounded a bit dull and relaxed and that they preferred the HRT MicroStreamer USB DAC & Headphone Amplifier at £189.00. But the closest dealer to me that stocks it isn't in London (Analogue Seduction in Peterborough). Bit of a trek. Unfortunately alternatives such the IFi Micro iDAC at £275.00, and the Arcam irDAC at £400, are beyond budget.
