Acoustic Radio Broadcast Collection (2CD)

They tell us .....

ACOUSTIC RADIO BROADCAST COLLECTION - 2CD BOX SET FEATURING 4 EARLY RADIO APPEARANCES

In an effort to promote his first two albums, Bruce Springsteen and certain early E Street Band members performed in-house at a numberof FM Radio Stations during 1973 and 1974, the results of which were transmitted live over the airways, giving those in the surrounding areas a chance to hear this still very much underexposed artist in his rawest state.

Whether these appearances had much impact on sales of the records is somewhat unknown, although neither his debut, nor his sophomore album, performed well commercially, despite both receiving critical acclaim. But the performances themselves were stunning, and great quality recordings of most still exist.

This double CD box set features four of the finest such radio appearances, two each from 1973 and 1974. Disc one contains the full shows from Boston, MA on 9th January 1973, and from Richmond, VA on 31st May the same year, while the second disc has the 1974 sets recorded in Houston, TX on 9th March, and back in Boston again for 9th April.

Featuring lots of chat and music throughout all the gigs, and a great selection of early Springsteen compositions and covers, all played acoustically in the relevant studios; this collection provides a delightful example of exactly where Bruce and the band were at at these early junctures of their career.
