They say .....

The FMJ A49  uses a new type of amp design called Class G which Arcam suggested would be something special and it appears that they were not kidding!

It would seem that this new technology called Class G has the ability to offer the first 50 watts of output as super sweet sounding Pure Class A  backed up with a further 150 watts on top if demanded. That figure is into 8 ohms and the A49 is a rare beast that will double that output into 4 ohms making 400w per channel!

When we auditioned the A49 everyone could hear that it was special. Not only was it sweet and natural sounding but there was an extra level of bass weight and control that sounded amazing. It offers a very natural, detailed and effortless presentation backed up by huge power reserves that make easy work of the most dynamic musical passges.

It’s perfect for integrating with Arcam’s rSeries of wired and wireless DACs as well due to having a built in power supply to suit them. This opens the door to streaming your music in an elegant and simple fashion.

This is an amplifier that you could listen to for hours without tiring.  Arcam's engineers had thought of making the volume control go up to "11" it has so much power on tap - I can hear loudspeakers quaking with fear already!
